Ever have a bad day? Ever have something minor set you off because of your mood? Well, let me tell you a story.
One time, at my Chick-fil-A restaurant on 71st Street, my manager was called to the front. There was an elderly lady that demanded to see the manager. He went out front to politely address our guest. The guest stated that someone walked by her and farted, and she wanted to know what we were going to do about it! She was mad!
We assumed it was one of our people. I mean it had to be right? Why else would she come to the front and say that? My manager asked, “Ma’am, do you mind sharing with me WHO farted by you?” She responded to him; it was a young man, and he is standing right there!”
She pointed her finger at a young man standing with a to-go bag. My manager looked at the young gentleman and asked, “Did you walk by this guest and pass gas?” He replied abruptly, “NO! No man! I didn’t fart. I just had this….he pulls out of his pocket, a button-activated fart machine. I was glad it was my manager, not me because I actually have one of those and may have asked: “Oh yeah, I have one, which brand?” #HeWasMoreProfessional
My manager told the young man, we try not to condone that behavior and asked the young man if he minded taking his food and leaving. He laughed and said “No Problem man” and strutted off.
The thing is, this is an odd complaint, but we do not know her story, we have no idea why she got so bent out of shape. It’s not our job to know why… it’s to understand they too, have a story. We don’t go around with captions over our head but Every Life has a story! Just take the time to read it!
