For me, goals are the stepping stones to dreams. They go hand in hand. When you set a goal, reach it, set another one, achieve it, set another one, then eventually you look back and it’s easy to see how you’re on a path to your dreams.
Goal setting for most people really sucks. Frankly, I do not love it. I love hitting my goals, but planning them out… naw…. But just like how its necessary to eat your broccoli to get fiber in your diet so you can poop right, you need to sit down and plan out your goals.
When I coach people I ask them what their SMART goals are. What are your SMART goals? Some of you are thinking, yeah, yeah I know this. That’s great, but do you DO it? Smart goals were first introduced in 1981, maybe you should start using them now!
Call it what you want, but no matter what you call your goals, they must be specific and measurable. You have a more significant chance of achieving SMART goals than those that are vague and too broad or don’t have a specific target date for completion.
S- Specific
When goal-setting, your goal must be very clear and defined not only to you but to others as well. This really helps if you want to share your goals.
M- Measurable
Include dates, exact financial numbers, and amounts in your goal. Your goal shouldn’t be, “Make more money,” it should state a specific amount, by a specific time. “I will make $10,000 extra dollars by January 1st, 2020.” If necessary, break it down into steps, but make those measurable as well.
A- Attainable
Your goal must be achievable. You should be able to accomplish it within the constraints of time, money, environment, as well as your skills and abilities and other important factors. Don’t say I want to lose 75lbs in a month… it won’t happen. Well, I guess it can.
R- Realistic
Goals should be in line with the direction that you’re heading in life. Keep your goals in line with your true purpose. Don’t waste time with unrealistic goals.
T- Time-Bound
Always set specific deadlines for the completion of your goal. Creating a target date of completion creates accountability and gives you more motivation. If you don’t achieve your goal by your specific date, that’s ok, adjust and keep moving forward. Always set a time for your is goals.
I have many things I am focusing on in 2019. However, my first step is this… I am planning something special for the beginning of 2019. A 21 day plan to get healthy. In fact, not only am I doing it, but I have invited my staff to join me, and a number of them have.
This isn’t for everyone because it’s going to include my coach Whitney Finch with Elite Training Tulsa texting me 3-4 times per day! Accountability + plan = RESULTS
If you want to join me on this, message me, I will send you all the details. I have upped the ante a little and made it a little competition, where I will personally give out $500 in cash to a couple of people who really step up.
My goal is to lose 10 lbs. I have already lost 15 by some small changes, but I want to lose 10 more by the end of Jan, and my secondary goal is to NOT get beat by anyone that joins me. Let me know if you want to join me, the deadline to join is January 2nd! Let me know ASAP!
